Fall Break

It's been 5 years since I've had a fall break.  5 years people!  So to say I was excited was an understatement.  4 whole glorious days of no work was music to my ears.  The only thing that would have made it better is having no obligations.  Then, I could have been worthless at the beach.  But instead I stayed in town and was full of worth to a few people.  I wanted to stay on the plains Saurday for some Auburn football, but we had other things to do.  And seeing the results of the game made me feel a little better about missing out.  We headed to my mom's house Saturday morning so Gavin could mow her grass.  They have a little agreement- he mowes her grass bi-weekly and she washes, dries, and irons all of his work clothes.  While he mowed the grass, my mom and I headed out for a little shopping.  I scored some super cute and comfy heels.  Cute and comfy?  Yes, who knew they make that combination now!  That afternoon we headed to a wedding.  Gavin's friend Matt was getting hitched.  I have to say, we clean up pretty nice.

We had a good time at the wedding and actually got home at a decent time.  Since we are rarely in town anymore, we headed to Beth and Brett's to hang out with them for a while.

We spent Saturday night at my mom's.  Saturday we got up and went to breakfast.  Then we just hung around town shopping, and visiting as we went.  That night, before heading home we picked up my favorite little man.

The next morning he woke my up by crawling in my bed and saying "Don't worry.  I'm not a monster, I'm Deacon."  Cutest thing ever!  Gavin took him to breakfast while I showered.  When they got back, we headed out for the day.  First stop- the park.

We had a blast and burned off some energy.  Next, we headed to Anders Book Store to pick up a new t-shirt for Maddie.  Her last one shrunk in the dryer and with fall in the air, she needed a new one.  We shopped around for a while and played with some of the stuff in the store.

Next, we headed to campus.  School was in, so it was busy.  We went to the museum and then walked around the stadium.  While walking around the stadium, we noticed an open gate.  The clean-up crew was inside, so Gavin asked if we could go in.  They let us and we ended up getting to go on the field.  How cool is that?!  I'd say pretty cool if you're a 3 year old!

After that, we headed to lunch and home for a nap.  Beth and Brett came up for dinner and we planned a trip to Disney World in December.  I can't wait!

I spent yesterday running errands and getting stuff done for our new house.  I enjoyed my fall break tremendously, and hope to have more in the future.

In other news, my computer is fixed so I hope to get this little blog updated with some pictures from my good camera soon.



Did I Mention We Moved?

August has been a busy month for us.  Not only did it mean back to work for me, but it also meant a big life change.  Someone put in an offer on our house in July and we accepted it, so we had to move.

I was sad to say goodbye to our first home.  We have made so many memories there.  I remember the day we moved in.  We spent all night painting so that we were done before our furniture was delivered the next day.  Our friends Beth and Brett came over to hang out with us while we painted.  That seems like ages ago, but it was only 6 years ago.  We had a lot of good times there.  We grilled out with friends once a month there.  We had some awesome Halloween parties there, as well as a Tacky Christmas party or two.  We made that house "our" house.  We changed everything from the paint colors to the flooring to the counter tops, as well as everything in between.  I can't even begin to count the hours we spent working on that house.  It was definitely bittersweet to leave that house.

It's also amazing the amount of stuff you accumulate in 6 years time.  It took forever to pack and move all of our stuff.  It seemed to be a never ending process.  Especially when someone like me is the one doing the packing.  To say I like everything organized is an understatement.

So we've moved.  And soon we will move again.  We are renting a place right now while we wait on our house to be built.  We're trying to not get too comfy seeing as we'll be packing everything back up in less than a year.  So here we are...

And if you could say a little prayer for me, it would be much appreciated.  You see, we've moved to a college town so we are surrounded by college students.  Oh to be that carefree again.  But instead of spending my nights having a good time and my days sleeping and dragging myself to class, I spend my nights trying to sleep while our neighbors party have a good time and my days teaching 4th graders.  Sleep deprived is an understatement.  So please pray for my sanity.  Otherwise it's only a matter of a time before I snap on one of the multiple 20 year olds that surrounds us.

Instagram Summer

Hello Friends!  I am alive and well!  Sorry for the lack of blogging, but I decided to step away from the computer and enjoy my summer.  Unfortunately, summer is over for me, so it's time to get back in the swing of things.  Along with stepping away from the computer this summer, I also seemed to step away from my camera.  Thank goodness for cell phones.  I did a decent job of keeping up with our summer using my iPhone and Instagram.  Let me fill you in...

We headed down to Orange Beach for Memorial Day weekend with our friends Kim and Ward.  First stop- FloraBama!

We also celebrated our birthdays with family and friends (Side note: that 30 is not mine!).

How was your summer friends?

The Color Run

This past Friday a group of us girls headed to Atlanta to participate in The Color Run.  If you're not familiar with The Color Run here's the run down: It's a 5K and for every kilometer you pass you are coated with a different color.  We woke up early Saturday morning and headed to the Atlanta Motor Speedway, where the 5K would be taking place.  When we got there we were surrounded by people in white shirts and running shoes.  The crowd was insane (to the tune of about 6,000 people).  We lined up for the run to begin.

We didn't all run at once though.  They sent us in heats.  We were in the 3rd heat, so for a while we just stood around.  They had music playing all around us and people were dancing- that made the time go by pretty fast.  We started off at a slow jog due to the crowd around us.  However we quickly realized that we would be doing a lot more walking than running.  There were just too many people around and the crowd was backed up at each color station.  But we were cool with that.  First up was the yellow station.

We were indeed colorful.

After enjoying the after party, we hopped in the car to head home.  I had a wedding to be at that night and I was praying all of the color came off of my body and hair.  We stopped at Subway for the lunch and got some crazy looks.  But the craziest looks came when I went to get a pedicure and manicure that afternoon.  But then again, who could blame them with feet that looked like this?!
