Gatlinburg

In January, my friend Beth asked me if we wanted to go on a trip with them.  You see, Beth is pregnant with baby #2 and she wanted Deacon to have a special trip of his own before the baby comes.  We debated on where to go and decided to check out Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  So a few weeks ago, we all packed up and headed to Gatlinburg for a fun weekend.  We arrived late Friday night and settled in to our condo.  This whole trip was about Deacon so whatever he wanted to do (within reason), we did.  Saturday morning he decided he wanted to go to a petting zoo and ride the ponies.  After breakfast, we piled in the car and headed to the petting zoo.

There were lots of interesting animals to check out.  One of our favorites was the camel.  Probably because we got a kick out of the camel toe.  Ha!

Fix ya self girl!

We were also entertained by Gavin, who decided to break every rule they pointed out to us.  You can't take the boy anywhere!

Before we left the petting zoo, Deacon had to get in that pony ride he was promised.

Next we headed to downtown Gatlinburg for lunch.  After eating and walking around a bit, we decided to head to Ober Mountain so Deacon could see the snow.

We knew they had snow tubing, but we found out that Deacon was too young to tube.  However, he was not too young to ice skate.  I found that a little strange, seeing that ice skating basically consists of sliding around on a knife.  Either way, we went for it and had a good time.

We headed back to the condo exhausted and cold.  We cooked a pizza and settled in for a night of movies.  The next morning we headed out with two things to check off our list.  The first was eating at a place called Dick's, where the service is supposed to be horrible and the waiters are supposed to be mean.  We got a kick out of it as they put bibs on us and made hats that said horrible things on them.  They also throw stuff at you.

Next on the agenda was the aquarium.  Deacon loved checking out all of the sea creatures.  We spent the rest of the afternoon checking every exhibit out.

We headed back to the condo that night to grill some steaks, but our plan was foiled because of snow!  We went outside to enjoy the snow while we broiled the steaks in the oven.  The next morning we packed it up and headed back home.  We all agreed that we had a good time and it was a trip Deacon was sure to remember!
