Weekend in Atlanta

Two weekends ago Gavin and I headed to Atlanta with our friends Kim and Ward.  On the agenda, the boys had free concert tickets and we wanted to go to a Braves game.  We left early Friday afternoon and headed north.  Kim and I dropped the boys off at the concert and checked into the Sheraton for the weekend.  Then, we located the closest Melting Pot and headed over to stuff our faces eat.  It was delicious!  If you've never been, you should go.  Gavin and I went years ago, but Kim had never been.  We had a wonderful evening of girl talk with lots of fondue!
The boys got a cab back to the hotel and got in around midnight and we had a surprise for them when they arrived!  The Sheraton had overbooked that Friday night and all they had for us was one king sized bed (if we hadn't already paid, we would have left).  Luckily Kim keeps an air mattress in her car so we were able to bring that up.  Unluckily, the air mattress had a hole in it.  We ended up getting a roll away bed, which neither of them had heard of (hello?  Spring break?), for Ward to sleep on and Kim and I took the bed while Gavin took the holey air mattress (which we didn't realize had a hole until the next day).  It definitely made for an interesting night.
The next morning we ventured out for breakfast and ended up at The Flying Biscuit.  I had the most delicious french toast I think I've ever had.  Once again, if you haven't been there, you should go.  Then, we headed to Lenox Square for a little shopping.  By noon we were headed back to the hotel to get ready for the Braves game.  We didn't have tickets and they were playing the Cubs, so we knew it would be a sell out.  We planned on heading over there early.  And head over there early, we did.  About 3 hours early.

We ended up getting tickets for only $1, but the catch was you had to enter the park immediately.  What a way to get you to spend more money!  We headed to The Chophouse for a late lunch.

After wearing out our stay at The Chophouse, we decided to walk around.  It was hot, I'm talking real hot.  So we payed a dollar to go in the museum and cool off.

After cooling off, we decided to head to our seats in the nose bleeds.  And we were in for another surprise.  You know those fireworks they shoot after every stike-out?  We were sitting right beside them..
.
.
The Braves were losing pretty bad at the bottom of the 7th, so we decided to go ahead and head back to the hotel to clean up and head out for a night on the town.  When we got back to our hotel, we had another surprise waiting on us (a better one than the others).  Because of the inconvenience the night before, they upgraded our room to a suite!  Now that's a good surprise!  Before heading out, I wanted to get a picture of Gavin and me, but obviously I forgot how difficult it is to get a serious picture with him is....
....

.
But we finally managed to get a decent one in..

And then we headed out for the night.  I did snap this nice picture with my phone in the elevator before we left...

And that's just how he went out.  Jealous, ladies?  I didn't think so.  We headed down to an Irish Pub called Meehan's, where we met Kim's sister and her fiance for dinner.  Our food was okay.  The atmosphere was great.  I love Irish Pubs anyway, so maybe it was just me.  Gavin and I decided to call it an early night while the others headed down to the original Flip Flops.
All in all, it was a great weekend.  We are still laughing about the fact that a free concert and $1 Braves ticket ended up being around $400 in hotel and food costs.  But as Gavin said, "how often do we do this?  Let's enjoy."  And enjoy we did!
