The Beach and Lee

This past weekend we headed down to the beach with the Lisle/Leatherwood/Pate families.  We were warned that Tropical Storm Lee was on it's way, but we braved the trip anyway and ended up having a blast.  Friday we were all decked out in our Auburn colors to show our team spirit and when we stopped at Krystal's in Dothan, I just had to snap a picture of my little buddy in his Cam Newton jersey.
.
 .
We arrived at the beach late Friday night and after a quick trip to the store we headed to bed.  Saturday we woke up to lots of wind and rain, but we didn't let that bring us down.  We hung out at the condo and watched some college football.  I won't say much about the Auburn game, except that in the end we won and that's all that matters.  Saturday evening it cleared up a little so we headed out on to the beach in our clothes for a little fun.  The kids played in the water with our supervision while we hung out on the beach and chatted.  After dinner that night, we broke out the sparklers.

Sunday we woke up to more of Lee, but we had plans- plans to have fun.  So we started out the morning with breakfast at Flour Power, which was delish as always!  After a catnap to sleep off breakfast, we headed out to Fun Land for some games, dipped cones, and 99 cent beer.  Can't beat that!
.

 .
On our way back to condo, we stopped by Dippin' Dots for some ice cream.
.
.
And then we headed to some of the beach stores.  Our favorite one was Everything's a Dollar where we found Gavin this sweet shirt and fanny pack...
.
.
Which he proceeded to wear out and about as we continued to shop.  Sunday evening it continued to rain, but we had plans to grill steaks, so grill steaks we did.  Then we finished up the night with a little Scategories.
.
.
And somehow Gavin and Beth both won.  Cheaters.
Monday we packed our stuff and headed home early because another band of rain was quickly approaching.  We got home just in time because the bottom fell out soon after.  We ended up having a great trip, even with Lee, and I can't wait to go back!

4th of July Vacay Part 3: Photos and Fireworks

Our 4th was spent on the beach.  After spending the day outside, the guys cooked up a feast including three racks of Brett's famous ribs.  But before we ate, Shea requested that we walk down to the beach and take a few pictures since we were all decked out in our red, white, and blue!

(the one of the kids is, by far, my favorite)

Beth also insisted that we take a group shot since we plan on making this an annual trip- good idea Beth!

After our delicious dinner and a little rain, we headed down to the beach again to watch the fireworks.

The fireworks lined the beach for as far as we could see. They were beautiful (as long as they weren't close to me)!

We had a great time spending our 4th of July at the beach and can't wait for next year!

Gavin and I are leaving tomorrow for a road trip up the east coast.  I'm sure I'll have lots of posts about our trip when we return!

4th of July Vacay Part 2: Boys and Their Toys

Saturday we enjoyed another day at the beach.  We had a great time playing with the kiddos, and I think they enjoyed us too!

Saturday night, after dinner, we headed to one of the many arcades at the beach.  The plan?  A little go-cart derby fun, some games, and hopefully some prizes thrown in.

First stop: go- carts!  Shea and I sat with Deacon and watched the entertainment.

Lilli looked a little worried at the beginning, but she had a great time!

Then, the boys headed to play on the slick track.

Their faces were hilarious!  They were like kids in a candy store!

Next, we headed inside for some refreshments and games.  Gavin hit the jackpot!

Lilli was excited about all of the tickets we won her!

Lilli used her tickets for a bubble set, complete with bubbles and a bubble gun.  We still had some tickets left over, so the boys each got a sword.  And when I say boys, I mean Gavin, Brett, and Gene.

So the question is, what is it with boys and their toys?

I'm pretty sure my husband would trade me in for those swords!

4th of July Vacay Part 1: Bye Bye Bobbies!

Last Thursday night we headed down to Panama City Beach for what we hope will become an annual 4th of July vacation.  We woke up early Friday morning to get an early start.  We spent most of the day at the beach.

And headed to the pool later.

But, the most important thing that we did on Friday was say "bye bye" to Lilli's "bobbies."

First, we gathered all of Lilli's bobbies to put in a bag.  Lilli gave her favorite pink bobby to Deacon.

Then, we all headed down to the beach.  You see, Shea had the brilliant idea to let Lilli give her bobbies to the mermaids in the ocean.  After a long talk, Lilli was very excited to let all of the baby mermaids have her bobbies.

One by one, Lilli threw her bobbies into the ocean.

She was pumped about all of attention she got since she was such a sweet girl!

(If you look close in the above picture, you'll notice that the bobbies quickly washed back onto the beach.  They were quickly gathered and hidden before Lilli could notice- thank you undertow!)

On the walk back to the condo, Gavin and Brett came up with this brilliant idea...

It took us two days to convince them that nobody took them seriously with the 'staches.
